Release & Why It Matters

Avicii Forever Deserves to be on Vinyl

Avicii Forever dropped on May 16, 2025, as a 2-LP gatefold vinyl. This one’s officially in my collection now, Interscope, Pophouse, and the Avicii Estate back it.

The timing lines up with the Netflix doc I’m Tim, which already had me revisiting his catalogue weeks before release.

This isn’t just a playlist on wax. It’s a carefully sequenced retrospective: 20+ tracks covering the full arc of his career, from festival anthems to personal confessions. Plus, one new track makes its way in: “Let’s Ride Away” with Elle King.

Packaging & Design

A Fitting Tribute to Tim Bergling

The packaging nails it. Solid weight. Sturdy feel. The gatefold opens to a clean design, with liner notes that don’t feel crowded or rushed. No gimmicks, just simple respect for the music.

On one side of the gatefold is a photo of Tim (Avicii), and on the other side is a simple message.

The cover art hits home with the carved stone Avicii logo made from Skåne stone. It’s got this monument vibe, like a headstone but not morbid. It honours without drowning in sadness.

No Pops, No Filler – Just Pure Sound

The vinyl itself plays beautifully. Heavy, flat, and clean. No surface noise, no pops.

I’ve spun both records multiple times consistently across both discs. Whoever handled the pressing deserves credit. You can tell it was done with care, not rushed to capitalize.

EDM on Vinyl Done Right

This is where it shines. You never know how EDM will translate to vinyl, but Forever avoids the usual pitfalls. The highs sparkle, the lows punch, and nothing feels squashed.

Highlight Tracks

“Wake Me Up” opens huge. Aloe Blacc’s vocals sound full, not hollow like digital versions can sometimes feel. The acoustic strumming pops.

“Levels” remain pure serotonin. The synth stabs are sharp but not harsh. It breathes.

“Let’s Ride Away” surprised me. Elle King brings this smoky edge, and the analogue warmth gives her voice real grit.

Across the board, the bass stays tight. No muddy rumble, even at high volume.

Vinyl gives these tracks an unexpected intimacy. Even the biggest club bangers feel like they’re playing just for you.

Handled With Care, Not Cash-Grab Intent

Carl Falk helped finish “Let’s Ride Away,” and you can hear the restraint. If they didn’t drench it in layers, Avicii wouldn’t have approved.

The mix breathes. The rest of the tracks were chosen and sequenced with clear intent, no filler, no cheap demos shoved in just to pad the runtime.

The inclusion of “Forever Yours” from that 2016 Ibiza live moment adds a personal touch for long-time fans. It’s not polished like a full studio single, and that’s what makes it work.

More Than Nostalgia – It’s a Goodbye

Spinning Forever doesn’t feel like revisiting old party days. It’s more layered than that.

I remember where I was the first time I heard “Levels” at a tiny festival in 2011. The first time “Wake Me Up” played on car speakers that summer. But listening now, it’s different. These songs are tied to where I’ve been and who I’ve become.

Hearing them on vinyl makes the emotions heavier. The warmth of the format makes you sit with the tracks, not just blast them in passing. It’s both a celebration and a goodbye.

What Works and What Could Be Better

Pros & Cons

Pros:

Beautiful pressing: clean, dynamic, well-mastered.
Balanced tracklist not just hits, but a full story.
Stunning packaging that honors his legacy.
The new track fits and feels honest.

Cons:

As always with posthumous releases, some purists may question decisions.
A few might’ve hoped for even more unreleased material.
Switching sides breaks some flow, but that’s vinyl reality.

Avicii Forever vinyl review conclusion

Avicii’s Forever isn’t just a collection it’s a tribute that respects his artistry. This vinyl release gives these songs new life. It captures the energy of his brightest moments while letting the quieter, sadder tracks carry the weight they deserve.

If you’re a fan, this belongs in your collection. Not because it’s rare or new but because it’s real. You feel him the joy, the pain, the genius.
